Sutter Health Nurses Strike

ROSEVILLE, CA. — Registered Nurses lined East Roseville Parkway outside Sutter Roseville Medical Center at 7 a.m. Thursday to begin a one-day strike.

“Save our healthcare,” yelled multiple nurses as cars honked.

Five Northern California Sutter Health hospitals participated in the strike, including Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Sutter Tracy Community Hospital and Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital.

The California Nurses Association said it organized the strike to protest cuts in health care coverage for registered nurses and their families.

This was the 150th strike organized by the California Nurses Association in the past five years, according to Sutter Health.

Results of Organized Union activity by Sutter Health RNs:

Sutter Health distributed an email detailing that a full-time Sutter Health nurse averages $140,000 per year with an employer-paid pension plan worth $84,000.00 per year, employer-paid monthly health insurance premiums, and up to 40 paid days off per year.
